Seva Hi Sanskriti

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, a month-long nationwide public service initiative being observed from 17 September to 17 October 2026, seeks to transform the spirit of Jan Seva into a collective public movement. In the Ministry of Culture, this spirit is being adapted as “Seva Hi Sanskriti”, with Swachhta and Samvad as its two key pillars. The week-long focused component, being undertaken from 17 to 24 September 2026, focuses on community-led cleanliness and upkeep of cultural spaces, heritage sites, offices and their surroundings, encouraging citizens and local communities to take collective responsibility for spaces that form part of India’s cultural environment.

As part of the week-long campaign, organizations under Ministry of Culture will undertake cleanliness activities across government offices, educational institutions, parks and monuments, markets, temples and ghats, public footpaths, and residential areas. The activities will include removal and segregation of waste, cleaning and restoration of neglected spaces, along with complementary activities such as Rangoli-making and mass singing of Vande Mataram, linking the act of cleanliness with civic participation, cultural expression, and the larger spirit of Seva.

The Samvad component of Seva Hi Sanskriti will use Nukkad Natak to take messages and stories of India’s cultural achievements directly to the people.
